Waterford arson attack kills four, victim’s son combs CCTV
Garda investigators appeal for tips as two other children remain in critical condition.
A suspected petrol-bomb arson attack in Waterford killed parents Philip English and Kim English and their two sons, Callum and Jayden.
The attack happened shortly after 5am on Tuesday, when a petrol bomb was allegedly thrown at the front door of the family home. Two other young children were rescued from the house but suffered serious injuries and are still in critical condition in hospital.
Philip English’s eldest son, John James English, says he is combing through CCTV footage from the weeks leading up to the attack. In a post on social media, he vowed he will not be intimidated into silence, declaring: “I’m not afraid,” and saying he will “speak up the truth” for his family.
Gardaí investigating the murders also renewed their public appeal for information. Chief Superintendent Anthony Pettit said there are people in the community who know the identity of the person or persons responsible and urged them to contact Waterford Garda Station or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or speak to any Gardaí.
Philip English’s uncle and Callum’s godfather, James English, visited the scene and called on those responsible to “own up.”
The investigation is ongoing.
