Police seize 2.2 kilograms of cocaine in Vienna Brigittenau
Two men are arrested after an alleged handover on a supermarket car park.
Vienna police have seized around 2.2 kilograms of cocaine after arresting two men over an alleged drug handover in Brigittenau.
The operation by investigators from the Vienna State Criminal Police Office, Centre East unit, followed extensive inquiries into a suspected cocaine dealer accused of offering cocaine in kilogram quantities for sale.
On 4 November 2026 at 19:45, the alleged transfer was due to take place for about 60,000 euros on a supermarket parking lot in Vienna's Brigittenau district.
Investigators say the 49-year-old suspect first drove to Columbusgasse in the Favoriten district, where he picked up the 41-year-old alleged accomplice, who was believed to be carrying the cocaine. The two then returned to the agreed handover spot and handed over about two kilograms of cocaine.
During the subsequent police access by observation officers from the Federal Criminal Police Office, the 41-year-old tried to flee by car. In the attempt, he overran the foot of an officer who stepped in, and another officer was injured on the hand.
Police arrested both men. Searches were carried out at the hotel room of the 49-year-old near Vienna's main railway station and at the 41-year-old's home. Officers secured around 2.2 kilograms of cocaine and several mobile phones.
Both suspects refused to make statements during questioning and were taken to a prison. Investigations into the origin of the drugs and possible international links are ongoing.
