A 25-year-old man from Wrocław was arrested after allegedly defrauding an 89-year-old woman out of almost 53,000 zł. Lublin police said officers recovered the money and detained the suspect on the spot. The fraud targeted the victim’s emotions. The suspect allegedly told her about a fictional accident involving her daughter, prompting the woman to hand over the money. Officers from the Department for Combating Property Crime at the Municipal Police Headquarters in Lublin arrested the man “on hot pursuit”. Thanks to their intervention, the 89-year-old regained her savings. Police said the case concerns an offence punishable by up to 8 years in prison.
