Rypin man stops fake police scam as Wrocław suspects arrested
The Rypin resident personally caught one suspect as court ordered temporary detention for two.
A Rypin resident foiled a “fake police officer” fraud attempt and personally caught one of the suspects, according to Poland Police.
Rypińsk Court temporarily jailed two residents of Wrocław over an alleged scam meant to extort money. One suspect was grabbed on the spot by the alert resident in Rypin, while the second person was taken into custody as the case unfolded.
The scam used the method known as “na policjanta,” with the fraudster posing as a policeman to pressure a victim into handing over money. The court’s decision came after the Rypin resident showed both courage and quick thinking, allowing police to move forward in the case.
The two men from Wrocław remain accused in the ongoing proceedings, with the Rypińsk Court’s order placing them in temporary detention.
