A young man was left gravely injured after being stabbed in the chest in Vila Viçosa, Évora district, and a suspect was detained by the GNR. The incident happened on the night of Friday, 30 October, around 23:00, in Rua Florbela Espanca. A dispute between two young men is said to have ended with one of them receiving a stab wound to the chest. GNR officers detained the suspected attacker when they arrived at the scene. More than a dozen GNR personnel were mobilised to manage the situation. Emergency teams were also called in. Bombeiros Voluntários de Vila Viçosa, the Estremoz SIV ambulance, and the Évora VMER were deployed to assist the victim. The injured young man was taken to Hospital de Évora, where he received medical treatment. The circumstances behind the dispute are not yet known, and the investigation is ongoing while authorities seek to establish how the fight began.
