An investigation overseen by the District Prosecutor's Office in Opole has ended with charges against a suspect accused of using anonymous messages to demand cryptocurrency ransom and threaten to plant explosive devices. The suspect allegedly sent a series of anonymous communications demanding payment in cryptocurrency, warning that otherwise explosive charges would be planted. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison. The case was handled by the CBZC police unit, with prosecutors supervising the investigation. Police say the threats were made through the anonymous messages, turning the promise of violence into leverage for the alleged ransom demand. The criminal case has reached the indictment stage, meaning formal charges have been brought against the accused.
