Greek police have arrested a 52-year-old gynecologist in the context of a case involving alleged child sexual abuse material found during a digital investigation. According to the information provided, police said they traced the suspect after receiving critical information through the US National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). NCMEC reportedly informed investigators that a specific internet user had uploaded child sexual abuse material to an online storage space. Following that input, officers from Greece’s cybercrime unit carried out further digital analysis and online investigation, which led to the identification of the 52-year-old and to the location of his home. On 8 October 2026, police carried out searches at the man’s residence and at his professional premises in the Attica region. Investigators seized several items, including a mobile phone, a computer hard drive, a laptop, a tablet, and a microSD memory card. Police said the investigation found evidence that the accused allegedly managed an online account used for storing the disputed material. They reported that hundreds of saved photo and video files were found. Authorities stated that the material allegedly involved minors who appeared to be under 15 years old, including children below 12 years of age. Police also said that it had not been confirmed whether the accused produced the primary material. The accused was arrested under the fast-track (autophōro) procedure and was taken to the relevant public prosecutor. The digital evidence seized is to be sent for laboratory examination. This case concerns allegations and the accused has not been proven guilty.
