A Belarusian man accused of laundering more than €861,000 through cash and cryptocurrency transactions has been detained in Estonia, prosecutors said. The suspect is 47-year-old Aleh Maiseyeu. Prosecutors allege that over a three-month period, Maiseyeu and others helped launder criminal proceeds by swapping cash for cryptocurrency and back again. They allegedly used anonymization methods, including meeting participants who identified each other by a banknote serial number sent in advance via an encrypted messaging app. Court-bound details describe how the group allegedly operated. Prosecutors said Maiseyeu took part in the transactions, arranged meeting times and locations with clients, received and handed over cash, and coordinated other couriers. Maiseyeu was detained on June 13, 2026, and his detention was extended this week. The case has now been referred to court.
