Bucharest DIICOT arrests 16-year-old drug dealer’s father linked to Sector 6 police
The teenager was placed under preventive arrest for 30 days after DIICOT charges.
A 16-year-old drug dealer in Bucharest has been ordered into preventive detention for 30 days, and investigators identified his father, Cezar Iulian Marinescu, a senior official at Local Police in Sector 6.
Prosecutors from DIICOT accuse the minor of selling cannabis and ecstasy to other students and young people. He was detained on 16 October 2026, and the Bucharest Tribunal later imposed the 30-day preventive arrest.
DIICOT says the alleged dealing began in September 2026. The teenager is accused of finding buyers through an online app and through recommendations from people who had already purchased drugs, including schoolmates.
Prosecutor sources reported that among the identified buyers were seven students and one student. DIICOT said some buyers would have come from families with higher financial means. In the same case, eight other minors and young adults are also being investigated for drug possession for personal consumption without authorization.
The investigation found that the teenager was a student at the “Jean Monnet” National College in Bucharest, but was reportedly expelled for absenteeism. His parents then transferred him to the “Hristo Botev” National College, where he allegedly did not attend consistently.
Marinescu is described as director general deputy at the General Directorate of Local Police Sector 6, and his wife is also employed there as a counsellor. A declaration of assets filed on 21 January 2025 reports, among other holdings, five apartments in Bucharest, two plots of land, and a Mercedes car. The same declaration lists annual salary income of 151,818 lei for Marinescu and 98,313 lei for his wife, plus income from renting property.
The case is being handled by DIICOT prosecutors with police from the Bucharest Organized Crime Brigade, with support from the Gendarmerie structures. The teenager remains in preventive custody as the investigation continues.
