A driver who had no licence fled police at up to 200 km/h, and officers found cannabis and more surprises in the car’s trunk in Hodonín region, Czech Republic. Police were alerted at a petrol station in Mutěnice early Sunday shortly before midnight. A patrol noticed a suspicious vehicle driving in the opposite direction, and the driver then started speeding away when officers turned around. During the chase toward Hodonín, the driver riskily overtook other vehicles and weaved through traffic. Police said he reached speeds of up to 200 kilometres per hour, and that traffic was light so no injuries were reported. The chase ended on the tracks. After leaving the road and crashing a stump in a slope, the car ended up partly on railway lines, where it became stuck after only a few metres. Police arrested the driver and his passenger using coercive means. A subsequent check revealed the driver had never held a driving licence. His breath test was negative, but an orientation test for drugs came back positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine. Officers also found the car’s number plates belonged to another vehicle. In the luggage area and the cabin, police discovered a larger quantity of cannabis. They also seized plants from inside the trunk that were packed with cannabis. The plants were secured and sent for expert examination. The vehicle on the tracks stopped rail traffic for more than an hour, and firefighters helped remove the car from the rail area. The driver and his passenger have been taken into police custody, and investigators have seized the plants for lab testing.
