Eight suspected home robbers detained in Cataluña and Madrid operation
Mossos and Guardia Civil dismantle two itinerant groups after raids and ongoing investigations.
Police in Cataluña and Madrid have detained eight people suspected of robbing unifamiliares homes in a joint operation by Mossos d’Esquadra and the Guardia Civil, according to Moncloa.com.
Investigators say the arrests targeted two itinerant groups active across both regions. The teams allegedly ran campaigns lasting three or four days, during which they could allegedly hit up to four houses in a single day. The investigation began in August 2026, after police detected a rise in forced-entry robberies at isolated, single-family properties.
Mossos d’Esquadra and the Guardia Civil coordinated by cross-checking complaints filed in Cataluña and the Comunidad de Madrid. Investigators identified a recurring pattern: quick moves between areas, short bursts of crime, and no fixed base, which they say made the groups harder to track.
The eight arrested people, aged between 28 and 54, include six men and two women. They are accused of robbery with force, membership in a criminal group, and falsity in documents, the latter involving the alleged fabrication or use of false paperwork. Authorities also say the case files continue to be worked through to determine the full scope of the groups’ activity and how many robberies can be linked to them.
The investigation is still ongoing. The detainees have not been convicted, and the judicial process has not yet produced a final outcome.
