Prosecutors in Rostock have charged Gina H. with the murder of eight-year-old Fabian from Güstrow. The charge is “treacherous murder,” prosecutors say the 29-year-old is accused of luring the boy from the apartment of his mother on 10 October 2025 and killing him by stabbing him at least six times in the upper body at a pond in the fields south of Güstrow. Investigators allege she later set the child’s body on fire using a brand accelerator to erase traces. After a four-day search, the suspected killer was arrested. During a walk, she reportedly discovered Fabian’s body at the edge of the pond and alerted the police. She has been in custody since November and has not spoken to investigators since then. Prosecutors say the case is supported by what they describe as overwhelming indications, including a reference to more than 60 witnesses named in the indictment and an expert report that points to the same direction. Prosecutors also commissioned a report on Gina H.’s mental responsibility, but they plan to discuss it during the main trial. The indictment is set to go before the Rostock Regional Court. The report mentions that the detention deadline runs at the beginning of May, after which she could sit in pretrial detention for six months, with the prosecutor expecting the trial to start soon. Gina H. is charged, and the proceedings are now pending at court.
