A patient in Giessen attacked a doctor after being treated for drug consumption, police say. In the early hours of Sunday, a 38-year-old allegedly assaulted the physician at the Friedberger Bürgerhospitals emergency department. The incident happened around 0.30 on 18 October. The patient was being treated by the duty doctor, then confronted him on the way back to the treatment room, before allegedly striking him and biting his hand. Emergency staff intervened and helped hold the woman until police arrived. The doctor suffered injuries and had to seek treatment himself, and could not continue his shift. In a separate case, Butzbacher police arrested three young men on Saturday after a witness called the police during a fresh graffiti attack. Around 23.10, officers detained two 18-year-olds and a 19-year-old as they sprayed graffiti on a traffic sign in the Schloßgartenweg. Police said further checks in different parts of the city found additional apparently fresh vandalism to walls, traffic signs, lamps and electrical cabinets. Initial assessment indicated no political connection. The total damage was not yet given. The three suspects were taken to the station, and after police measures were completed they were released, with a criminal case pending. Police said it remains unclear whether more damage offences will be added. The patient remains in treatment and must face a criminal procedure. Police investigations are ongoing, including on whether the suspects in the graffiti case are linked to additional damage.
