Guardia Civil arrests 2 ‘Blocus’ leaders in Tenerife ahead of street clash
One suspect is 16, accused of public disorder, as police block calls to overwhelm officers.
The Guardia Civil has arrested two ‘Blocus’ leaders in Tenerife, one of them aged 16, after police blocked plans for a street clash in Calle Castillo.
The arrests took place in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and targeted the men accused of steering a movement that urged people to “overflow” the police this Saturday at 17:30.
Investigators say they spotted intense activity on digital messaging channels and social media platforms. The alleged plan used encrypted communication tools to avoid police tracing.
Police linked the suspects to groups where sabotage instructions circulated. Those messages included maps of action and coordination guidance, police say, pushing for vandalism and attacks on security forces, including the burning of urban furniture and coordinated raids on large commercial premises.
The operation was coordinated by the Criminal Intelligence Unit of the Provincial Public Prosecutor’s Office in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. As a result, the two main organizers were identified and detained, and the channels used to spread the call were neutralized before the planned mobilization took place.
The suspects are expected to be brought before the relevant judicial authority and the Public Prosecutor’s Office to request any precautionary measures. Police are treating the case as a suspected offence of public disorder.
