Guardia Civil raids 2 NGO sites in Ceuta, detains 2 over weapons
Two people were arrested as police searched premises tied to suspected knife and pepper-spray delivery.
Spanish Guardia Civil officers raided two NGO premises in Ceuta as part of a judicial operation over alleged distribution of weapons to immigrants. Two people were detained in connection with the probe.
The searches took place on Thursday morning, with simultaneous raids at a property in the Almadraba area and a warehouse in the Tarajal industrial estate. Investigators seized boxes of material from the sites.
Police are investigating whether knives and pepper-spray aerosols were handed to people arriving in Ceuta during the mass entry events on 30 and 31 July. A court order from Juzgado de Instrucción number 3 in Ceuta authorized the operation.
According to the case file, investigators rely on testimony from two people who said they received weapons at the NGO locations. One witness allegedly identified the person who supplied a knife. Police also recovered an alleged weapon blade, a pepper-spray aerosol, and photographic material they consider relevant.
During the raids, officers also found three immigrants inside one of the premises. They were taken to the attention of the Policía Nacional for identification, without it necessarily implying detention in the case.
The operation targets sites used by No Name Kitchen and Brigadas de Apoyo Mutuo. No Name Kitchen denied the allegations and said its work is limited to humanitarian assistance and documentation of rights violations. The investigation remains ongoing into possible criminal responsibility for the alleged delivery of dangerous items and any incitement to attack security forces and military personnel.
