Spanish National Police have wrapped up a major anti-drug operation with 86 people detained and more than ten tonnes of hashish seized. The final blow came in Tangier, where the alleged head of the network, Juan Carlos T.B., alias El Moreno, was arrested. The investigation had already produced multiple raids and seizures in Spain. Police and UDYCO investigators linked the group’s supply route to Morocco. Investigators traced how drugs entered from the Spanish coasts, with stockpiling carried out across seven sites described as nurseries in residential areas around Madrid, Guadalajara and Valencia. The network, allegedly run through a secure messaging platform, used compartmentalized roles, with each link knowing only part of the operation. When shipments arrived, the hashish was moved and, when needed, broken down into several trips to avoid raising suspicion. Early results came from a property in Las Tablas, Madrid, where police seized more than two tonnes of hashish. The case then connected further storage points, including 960 kilos of hashish and 12 kilos of cannabis buds near Madrid, and a site in Sanchinarro holding one tonne of hashish. Other seizures included 4.6 tonnes of hashish in Silla, Valencia, and 2.1 tonnes in an attic in El Cañaveral, Madrid. In total, 13 entries and searches were carried out in homes and properties in Madrid and Guadalajara. Police also registered 13 premises and seven storage points. Of the 86 detainees, half are described as Spanish and the rest Moroccan. Around two dozen have been sent to provisional custody, accused of belonging to an organised criminal group, drug trafficking and money laundering. According to the latest status in the case, the investigation is continuing as the operation ends, with the suspects in provisional custody awaiting further steps in the legal process.
