Police raided Spitalul Județean de Urgență Mavromati in Botoșani and seized documents from several administrative departments. The operation, carried out on Tuesday morning, involved six search warrants. Hospital manager Corneliu Prepeliță confirmed that investigators came to collect paperwork and that the hospital provided the requested records. Officers removed documents from the Purchases department, Human Resources, and Financial-Accounting. The searches were run by the Botoșani County Police Inspectorate under coordination by the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Botoșani District Court. Investigators said the probe concerns suspected abuse in service, embezzlement, intellectual forgery, and the disclosure of information not intended for the public. Police focus on the 2024 to 2026 period. Suspicion includes that staff may have taken special-regime medicines. Authorities also examine how documents were prepared for salary-related rights for people who allegedly did not work on weekly rest days. Another line of inquiry targets alleged removal of medicines from circulation to facilitate new purchases from certain companies. The raids also reached beyond the administrative offices, including searches in a SMURD ambulance parked in the hospital courtyard. The action forms part of the nationwide “Jupiter 6” operation. In this stage, Romanian police announced 304 home raids across 67 operative actions in Bucharest and multiple counties. Investigations are ongoing, and the accused individuals will be clarified by prosecutors and investigators.
