A 58-year-old remains in critical condition after a stabbing in his home.
Police have arrested a 37-year-old in Halle-Neustadt over a stabbing that left a 58-year-old man fighting for his life.
The suspect was detained on Tuesday. Investigators said the 37-year-old had been in the apartment on the night of the incident, when the victim was found with life-threatening stab wounds.
In the night from Saturday to Sunday, officers discovered the 58-year-old in his home with severe injuries to his neck. The police suspect the attack followed a dispute.
Witnesses told authorities that the 58-year-old had been hosting four guests at his apartment, with alcohol being consumed, before a loud argument broke out. The group then left the apartment before police arrived.
Police arrested a 41-year-old earlier that same night. Prosecutors and investigators described a serious allegation against both men, with a charge of attempted manslaughter, and both are being held in pre-trial detention.
The 58-year-old is still being treated in hospital and remains in critical condition. The investigation is ongoing as police continue to look into how the incident unfolded.
