Russian man arrested in Slovenia for transporting five Turkish citizens
Police in Decani seized the Nissan Juke and charged him under Article 308.
A 50-year-old Russian man was arrested in Slovenia after police stopped a car carrying five Turkish citizens near the border, in Decani.
Officers pulled the Nissan Juke with German plates over at 00.24 at the A1 motorway exit for Decani. The stop was carried out by police from the Capodistria station.
During the check, officers identified the five people in the vehicle. Investigators then suspected the driver had helped the group enter or transit illegally through Slovenia.
The man was detained and denounced for crossing prohibited territory, a crime under Article 308 of the Slovenian Criminal Code. Police seized the Nissan Juke used for the transport.
The five Turkish citizens were handled differently. One adult said they intended to seek international protection together with three minors. A second adult did not apply for international protection and was put on the procedure for return under Slovenian rules on foreigners.
Police investigations are still ongoing, and the legal steps for the group continue.
