Police investigate stabbing of 18-year-old in Omonoia, Athens
Six suspects were identified, but no arrests made so far after the incident.
A suspected knife attack on an 18-year-old in Omonoia, central Athens, has triggered an ongoing police investigation, with no arrests reported so far.
A protest delegation of the Anti-Fascist Education Parents and Teachers Network visited the Omonoia Police Station, staying inside for about an hour, to ask questions about how the case is being handled. According to the report, police investigators are also looking into possible additional motives.
The delegation said they received no answers they wanted after the meeting, despite assurances that some details were being examined. The victim described the attack as racist in nature, and the group said police were investigating other potential motivations as well.
Police have identified six of the 13 under-15 suspects mentioned in the case. The accused were allegedly linked to the attack through videos police have in their possession, including footage that has already circulated in the media and another video described as clearer.
Legal steps are expected after the investigation concludes, including further calls and statements by the identified under-15 suspects. Prosecutors have said the charges being considered include attempted homicide and unlawful possession of knives and blades.
At the latest stage described, the case remains in pre-investigation and no arrests have been made up to the time of the report.
