Torre de' Picenardi, in the Cremona area, saw a man jailed after repeated violence against his cohabiting partner that had been going on for about a year. Carabinieri carried out the arrest on 12 October, following a custody order issued by the judge for preliminary investigations at the Tribunal of Cremona. The woman had reported continuous insults and threats, including threats of death, along with beatings and physical aggression in multiple episodes. Investigators said the man often acted while under the influence of alcohol. In July last year, she told police that after a relationship began and later turned into cohabitation, he stopped staying calm and started hitting and insulting her. From June, the violence allegedly escalated in both intensity and frequency. Carabinieri also documented incidents where she was struck with slaps, punches and kicks. On one night she was hit with a kick to the back and punched, then managed to call the Carabinieri. She went to hospital, where she received days of prognosis and later filed further complaints. Even after the couple moved to Torre de' Picenardi, the alleged abuse continued inside their home. Carabinieri intervened again a few days before the arrest after a fresh assault, with injuries and visible marks on her face and body. Officers carried out additional checks and reported back to the judicial authority, which ordered pre-trial detention in prison. The ordinance was immediately executed by the Carabinieri, who accompanied the man to the Cà del Ferro prison. He is currently in custody pending the legal process after being ordered into prison for maltrattamenti in famiglia and aggravated personal injuries.
