Wrocław police accuse 54-year-old of choking robbery and stealing seniors
He faces charges, with prosecutors seeking prison and court ordered three months in custody.
Wrocław police have detained a 54-year-old man suspected of robbery, after he allegedly grabbed a victim by the neck and stole his wallet with 150 złoty.
The first offence dates to 18 September 2026 in a clinic in the city centre. Investigators say the man first brought another man into a state of helplessness by holding him by the neck, then took cash from his wallet.
Further work by police led them to link the suspect to a series of thefts from seniors using the “on the plumber” method in the Old Town. According to the investigation, the pair allegedly deceived elderly victims for money and jewellery. Total losses were assessed at nearly 5,000 złoty.
The man has already heard charges. Because prosecutors say the offences were carried out in conditions of recidivism, he faces a sentence of up to 15 years in prison.
At a prosecutor’s request, the court applied pre-trial detention for three months. The case is described as ongoing, and investigators do not rule out further charges.
