Interpol red notices sought for Ivano-Frankivsk construction fraud suspects
Three real estate developers face charges over losses totalling over 235 million hryvnias.
The Prosecutor General’s Office is preparing documents to seek an international arrest warrant via Interpol for three real estate developers accused in an Ivano-Frankivsk construction fraud case.
Prosecutors say the scheme targeted 256 investors and caused losses of more than 235 million hryvnias. The alleged fraud was carried out between 2017 and 2022.
Investigators allege a 46-year-old local businessman, founder of 15 construction companies, and two accomplices persuaded citizens to fund seven residential complexes in Ivano-Frankivsk. Prosecutors say the companies lacked the necessary permits to carry out the work or commission the facilities, and investors’ money was diverted to accounts controlled by affiliated firms.
The suspects are currently in hiding abroad, prosecutors say. The case charges the organizers with fraud on an especially large scale, money laundering, and willful tax evasion.
To move the case forward, the Prosecutor General’s Office is preparing requests for Interpol red notices to facilitate subsequent arrest and extradition to Ukraine.
The matter remains at the international wanted stage, with prosecutors seeking Interpol action against three suspects who are not in custody.
