Robert Culleton charged after threats to kill Kilkenny gardaí
The Kilkenny District Court heard alleged threats included “cut your neck” and harm to families.
Robert Culleton has been charged with making threats to kill and seriously harm gardaí and their families, following an appearance at Kilkenny District Court.
Culleton, of 3 St Patrick’s Close, Kilkenny, is charged that on June 1, 2026, he obstructed a peace officer at St Patrick’s Place. He also faces two counts of making threats to kill or cause serious harm at Kilkenny Garda Station on the same date.
Sergeant Brigid Goode gave evidence that Culleton allegedly made threats including telling a garda he would “cut your neck”. The court heard he allegedly said he knew where gardaí’s families lived, claimed to have a bucket of sulphuric acid, and told one garda that “your mother will be lying on a slab”.
The evidence also described threats towards a garda’s children.
Judge Geraldine Carthy refused jurisdiction on the two charges of making threats to kill or cause serious harm, and adjourned the matter to a court sitting in November to allow the DPP to give directions.
