Police in Toulouges detain drugged driver after smashing police window
The suspect was stopped earlier for drugs and had a suspended licence.
A driver was arrested in Toulouges after returning to smash a police station window with stones.
Municipal police in Toulouges discovered the glass door of their station had been broken on Wednesday evening. The same man had been controlled a few hours earlier during a road stop, where his licence was found to be suspended and a drug test came back positive.
After the initial stop, officers questioned the man and released him, while his licence was retained administratively. Around 19:30, police found the station door had been damaged by repeated stone impacts.
Investigators traced the suspect to the driver from the earlier checks. He was taken into custody at his home the next day and placed in police custody. He was then brought before a magistrate at the Tribunal judiciaire de Perpignan.
His vehicle was seized and he is due to be called before the correctional court at a later date.
